Client Brief.
FOCUS is an EU funded research project that aims at deepening the understanding of critical dimensions of integration. The project takes stock of the decade passed since the arrival of more than 1 million refugees and migrants from Syria and other countries, and makes this knowledge accessible in an efficient and useful way.
The team at Arttic approached me to produce a compelling video to explain in a nutshell the purpose and results of the research to introduce the website with accessible library of content.
One of the main challenges for this project was the very sensitive issue regarding the visual language that we wanted to use to convey the core message.
While to video should feel inclusive and diverse we also wanted to avoid the use of gender, racial, religious and social status visual clichés when representing “arriving communities” in comparison to “receiving communities”.
To solve that issue I proposed to use a more a less figurative and more abstract visual language with the use of simple colours and geometrical shapes to distinguish the two communities
